Got out yesterday for a quick bike ride.
I was having trouble fitting any rides in with the new baby, so I decided to get the bike Chariot out again and go pick up my son from daycare. It's 11km away from my house, so I did a total of 22km.
I almost ran out of gears pulling Alexander up a hill, but I managed in the end. I can't imagine if I came across a 'real' climb!
I was a bit worried bringing him along a busy street, as the cars were coming up pretty quick behind us then having to swerve around. I decided it was safer to go faster so the cars have more time to react. A good part of the busy section was downhill so we ended up going almost 50km/hr. I still felt amazingly in control so I wan't too worried about the speed, although I think next time I may go slow on the side walk and avoid the cars all together.

Do an experiment. Ride with the chariot in traffic and without.
You'll find that cars give you a much wider berth with the stroller in tow. We picked up an orange flag on a stick at Canadian Tire and drive up and down Lakeshore all the time with the kids, or at least we used to.
That being said, ride safe, but ride.
