Wow, I finally did it...I survived a spin class. I went with my wife Lori who is a spinning veteran, and I actually had a great time despite the burn.
Mind you I did keep the tension fairly low, but I did it all the same and I’m happy I did.
This was Lori’s first workout since our triathlon and she did great. She’s always loved spinning so it would be great if I can enjoy it also so we can share that interest. Also I could go to a class with here and my mother-in-law (Mama-D) who is awesome on the bike (when her knee gets better). I’m hoping we’ll all be healthy and ready to do the DVP bike ride this year. Those two have done it several times, but I’ve never been a good enough biker to pull that off.
The class was so cool, there must have been 40 bikes in the full class with a great motivating atmosphere. The lights were dim and the extreme mountain biking movies were playing on the projection TV. The group leader was at the front of the multi-level room on a stage and played great music and took us along a ride with two big hill climbs.
We were expecting to do an hour, but the class turned out to be 1-1/2 hours. My parents were at our house baby sitting Alexander, so although I stayed 1hr 20min into the class we had to leave as they had to get going. With the warm up it was 1.5 hours and just over 1100 Calories.
I would definitely like to do those more often. It would certainly prepare me for riding with the club at Gears.
Till next time...
